A feeling of deja vu happened a while ago. When I was a kid, I remember looking at the cover of a new book and suddenly feeling like I had seen it before. I told my brother, and he said it was because I looked at it ten minutes ago, but that was not what I meant. It felt like I had seen that exact cover way before, even though I could not remember when.
This may have happened when my brain recognized something similar, like the colors, layout, or overall look, and mistakes that familiarity for a real memory. So the book cover might have reminded me of something else I had seen without me realizing it, which made…
My closest with deja vu would be me on a bike trip in my sophomore year of high school. After pushing myself up a long, steep hill, I stopped to catch my breath while looking around. I suddenly feel an eerie sense of familiarity. The blazing heat, the tall grass lining the road, and even the distant yet visible beach below felt uncannily familiar, as if I had already been there yet I knew I have not.
Learning about deja vu through psychology gave me a completely different explanation on the experience. Rather than seeing it as something mysterious or out of context, I realized my exhausted brain was likely the reason behind this situation. Because I was so focused…
One moment that I felt like I had Déjà vu was when I met this lady in my art class that looked vaguely familiar. We might’ve met before, but it felt more than just someone I’ve met. I just have a feeling that I used to know this person very well. Surprisingly, when I asked her if we have met, she responded that she also has the same feeling with me. It might just be because I’ve actually met this person before.
A few weeks ago, I was walking into my school’s library when I suddenly felt like I had experienced that exact moment before. The hallway, the lighting, and even the way another student walked past me all seemed strangely familiar, even though I knew I had never been in that exact situation before. My own experience of deja vu happened when I was in class, for some reason the video we were going to watch in class seemed strangely familiar even though I had never seen the video before. Most of the times whenever I experience deja vu I understand it's deja vu, however I still felt like I was going insane most of the time. Some possible reasons for the deja vu may be that I have seen a video so similar to the video I was watching in class that I considered them the same.
